Louisiana leads in sales tax as state income taxes decline

Louisiana rarely leads the nation in any category, but it has excelled in one: sales tax. Following the end of a special legislative tax session on Friday, the state reduced income taxes while raising combined state and local sales taxes to an average of 10.11%.
