The Louisiana Survey has been conducted since 2003, establishing rich longitudinal measures of public opinion in Louisiana. The mission of the Louisiana Survey is to establish benchmarks as well as to capture change in residents’ assessments of state government services.

“In the case of the Underwater Forest and adjacent sites, we see specific biogeochemistry alongside physical mechanisms promoting the preservation and storage of vast organic layers, which is important to consider given current and impending rising sea levels threatening coastal environments,” lead author Kendall Fontenot said.

Republican Gov. Jeff Landry got the Louisiana Legislature to back his bet of lowering individual and corporate income taxes to stimulate growth in the state. 

Louisiana rarely leads the nation in any category, but it has excelled in one: sales tax. Following the end of a special legislative tax session on Friday, the state reduced income taxes while raising combined state and local sales taxes to an average of 10.11%.
